- Nathan Ake linked with Man City exit
- Attracting interest from multiple clubs
- Former team join the race to sign him
Nathan Ake only has one year remaining on his Manchester City contract, and his former club are looking to take advantage.
This season has by no means been a bad one for Nathan Ake. The defender was part of a Man City squad to lift two domestic trophies, and he started in the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.
However, Ake was limited to 32 appearances across all competitions, and he only started 17 of those matches.
Now 31 years old, the Netherlands international could be tempted by a move away from City in order to pursue regular minutes.
Nathan Ake is wanted by Bournemouth
According to TEAMtalk, Man City are prepared to allow Ake to depart this summer, and Bournemouth are open to re-signing him.
The Cherries need a left-sided centre-back to replace Marcos Senesi, who is set to join Tottenham Hotspur.
As a result, they have made an approach for Ake, who spent three years on the south coast before arriving at City.
Ake is generating a lot of interest
Bournemouth are just one club to join a number of sides queuing up for Ake, with Everton and Roma both keeping tabs on his situation.
Additionally, there is some interest from Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Coventry City, though none of these teams have made any concrete moves yet.
Of all the options on offer, it seems most likely Ake would lean towards either Bournemouth or Crystal Palace.
He obviously used to play for Bournemouth and on top of that, they have just qualified for next season’s edition of the Europa League.
Palace are an attractive option too as the club have just won a trophy for a second successive year, which has established their place in the competition as well.
City are going to sell Ake
Ake is out of contract next summer and there is little to no chance of Man City offering him a new deal.
Therefore, the club’s preference will be to sell him now, and with multiple clubs interested, getting this done is a real possibility.
The Citizens want £20m, which seems a steep price for a squad player in his 30s, especially when his contract has almost expired.
However, the fact there are a few different clubs exploring an offer actually makes this price tag quite realistic.
So it is highly likely that Ake will depart this summer, and Bournemouth seem like the strongest contenders to agree a deal.
