Khaldoon Al Mubarak breaks silence on Man City’s 115 charges case

  • Man City are under investigation by the Premier League
  • Club chairman comments on the ongoing issue
  • The outcome of the charges could become known soon

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has had his say on the 115 charges facing his club.

There has been plenty to talk about regarding Man City over the past season when it comes to what has happened on the pitch.

The Sky Blues lost out to Arsenal in the Premier League title race, but were still able to lift two trophies at Wembley.

However, it has been impossible to discuss City’s successes without someone bringing up the 115 charges.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak delivers his verdict

Everyone seems to have an opinion on the controversy surrounding Man City, and this is also true of the club chairman.

Al Mubarak has revealed that there is a limit to how freely he can speak on the matter. However, once City have been found either guilty or not guilty, he is ready to tell all.

“Until we have a ruling, I can’t say much,” Al Mubarak said. “Once we have a ruling, believe me, I’ll say everything I’ve wanted to say for the last three years.”

Man City are not for sale

Regardless of how the Premier League decides to rule, Al Mubarak has made it clear that Sheikh Mansour has no plans to sell Man City.

Stating how much it would cost to buy the club, he offered reassurance that this is simply not going to happen.

“There’s no intention to sell,” Al Mubarak added. “There’s only intention to keep growing this because the view here is this will only grow and this is a beautiful business to own. It’s football and it’s entertainment.

“Manchester City and this Group within the football world is a pinnacle. And these sorts of jewels, you don’t sell.

“Over time, new shareholders come in at different value points that show how that value is really growing.

“Sheikh Mansour took a very important choice which was that the money stays in because we’re going to keep building this. And this went up from $5billion to $6billion, to $7billion, to north of $8billion dollars.

“If you’re going to sell all this today in the market, you wouldn’t sell it for less than $10billion minimum.”

When will the Premier League reach a verdict?

Football financial expert Stefan Borson claimed last month that a decision could be reached on the 115 charges by early June.

Should this be the case, we could know by this time next week whether or not Man City have been found guilty.

And the punishment could be as heavy as a 60-point deduction, which would certainly put the Citizens in contention for relegation next season.

So hopefully the club are found innocent of any wrongdoing, and that their pre-season preparations do not face any disruption.

matchday.
