Keegan took Man City back to the Premier League
Pep Guardiola lifted 20 trophies at Man City including six Premier Leagues, but it was Keegan who got the club back into the top flight in the first place.
The Citizens suffered an 18th place finish in 2001, which saw them relegated to the second tier of English football.
However, Keegan led City to a First Division triumph, before managing a ninth place Premier League finish one season later.
The manager departed after Man City came 16th in 2003/04, but that took nothing away from what he achieved in his first season.
Keegan could have a stand named in his honour
Guardiola has recently had the newly renovated North Stand at the Etihad Stadium named after him, and Newcastle fans want to see this happen at St James’ Park with Keegan.
The Englishman played for the Magpies shortly before his retirement, and he also managed the club in the ‘90s.
In fact, he even returned for a brief spell in 2008, three years after resigning from his role at Man City.
It would be a fitting tribute for a man who has had quite the career at a number of different clubs, both as a player and a manager.
