- Josko Gvardiol’s future has been considered uncertain
- The defender has addressed his links away from City
- Gives major hint on where he will be after the summer
Josko Gvardiol has opened up on the rumours about him leaving Manchester City, removing much of the mystery surrounding his future.
John Stones is officially no longer a Man City player due to the expiration of his contract, and other defenders could soon follow him out the door.
Nathan Ake could depart City, with a number of clubs lining up for the Dutchman. Bournemouth are one of these sides, while a move to Italy could also be an option.
In addition to this, Man City are weighing up where they stand on Ruben Dias, while Josko Gvardiol has been linked with a summer move too.
Josko Gvardiol shuts down transfer rumours
It was recently reported that Gvardiol was considering a Man City exit, with interest emerging from the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
However, the defender has revealed that he is ‘happy’ at the Citizens, highlighting his important position in the first-team.
He told The Croatian: “We’ve all seen various rumours coming from every direction. I’m happy at Man City, I have everything I need.
“Before the injury I played every match, almost full minutes. After the World Cup we’ll see what happens next.”
Gvardiol is ready for life after Pep Guardiola
There will obviously be some major changes at City ahead of next season, including the induction of a new manager.
Gvardiol is disappointed by Guardiola’s exit, but he has backed his team to keep pushing on with whoever is appointed.
“Unfortunately, that moment came and he decided that his journey would end this season,” the Croat continued.
“I can say he has won many trophies. Since he arrived, we’ve all seen how many trophies he has lifted.
“We learned a lot from him. Everyone who had the chance to work with him became a better player and a better person.”
“I’m sure the club will choose the right new coach and continue where we left off.”
Man City departure unlikely for Gvardiol
These are not the words of a player who is about to leave his current club. Indeed, Gvardiol has not been subtle about how he feels.
Despite the many rumours surrounding his future at the Etihad Stadium, the 24-year-old has clearly indicated he is staying at Man City.
And why would he not? Bayern Munich would be an attractive move, but City will be looking to continue competing for silverware next season.
Additionally, performing well in the Champions League will be a key aim after disappointing campaigns the past couple of seasons.
So while Gvardiol may be wanted by some top clubs, he is already at the side who have experienced more success than any other English team over the last decade.
