Manchester City’s season may be over, but there is still plenty to talk about. Read the reactions to yesterday’s game, as well as ex-players giving their views on the campaign, here on Read Man City.

Kyle Walker names his three favourite teammates

Walker began by naming Dele Alli as one of the men he has enjoyed playing alongside the most. This makes sense, as they were teammates at both club and international level.

Jack Grealish was next up, a player who of course still technically belongs to Man City. However, he is likely to head off this summer after a season on loan at Everton.

Finally, Walker named John Stones, another teammate for club and country. And again, the defender will not be at City next season, due to the expiration of his contract.

While only two Citizens were able to make Walker’s favourite teammates list, he gave a different answer when asked about the best player he had ever lined up alongside.

Walker gave this honour to David Silva, who played for City during the 35 year old’s opening three years at the Etihad Stadium.

During that period of time, Man City won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and three Carabao Cups.

Joe Hart names Nico O’Reilly and Rayan Cherki in end of season awards

Nico O’Reilly was recently named as Man City’s player of the year, and he also won the Premier League young player of the year award.

And now, he has been selected as Hart’s young player of the season, after a year where he has established himself in City’s first-team.

O’Reilly is now ahead of Rayan Ait-Nouri in the pecking order, and he has been used as a midfielder too.

The 21-year-old has been magnificent, and it is no wonder he is going to the World Cup with England this summer.

There were some great signings made last year, but in Hart’s opinion, none has been as good as Rayan Cherki.

The France international has shown himself to be the ultimate playmaker at City, registering 12 Premier League assists in 33 appearances.

In fact, Cherki was joint fourth for most chances created, trailing only Enzo Fernandez, Dominik Szoboslzai and Bruno Fernandes.

Additionally, the 22-year-old scored four goals in the top flight, and a further three in the Champions League.

Man City are in talks to sign Enzo Fernandez

According to Ben Jacobs, informal and formative talks have taken place between Man City and Fernandez, which is a good start.

The World Cup winner wants to play in the Champions League next season, which leaves Chelsea in a weak position to renew his contract.

After all, the Blues were defeated by Sunderland on the final day of the campaign, and missed out on Europe altogether.

However, Chelsea are not willing to make a loss on Fernandez, who joined for an extraordinary £107m transfer fee.

Pep Guardiola sends Enzo Maresca message to Man City supporters

Guardiola knows that success can take time, and so he has attempted to defend whoever attempts to follow in his footsteps.

The Catalan made no mention of Maresca, but if the reports are true, he likely knows that the ex-Chelsea boss will be managing City next season.

“Don’t wait to win the Premier League to be happy, don’t wait to win the Champions League to be happy. Enjoy the process,” Guardiola said, as noted by Sam Lee.

It is clear from this message that Guardiola wants City fans to have patience with Maresca, rather than expecting instant success.

So enjoy the highs and lows of the ride. Then hopefully, the Italian will eventually bring about the types of triumphs Guardiola has made a common occurrence at the club.

Andy Roberton sends message to Pep Guardiola

Over in Merseyside, there were also emotional scenes. Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool, and Andy Robertson is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur.

Robertson was given the microphone after a 1-1 draw with Brentford, and he used the moment to pay his respects to Man City’s departing duo, as well as Everton’s Seamus Coleman.

The Scotsman then turned his attention to Guardiola, who he praised for pushing Liverpool over the years.

He said: “Pep Guardiola pushed us to completely new limits, both of us [he and Salah] will agree with that.

“We should’ve won more Premier Leagues if it wasn’t for that man. What a servant to Manchester City, and I wish him all the best!”
