Man City open temporary pub dedicated to John Stones and Bernardo Silva

Man City open temporary pub dedicated to John Stones and Bernardo Silva
  • Stones and Silva honoured with their own pub
  • Man City today announce official opening
  • Only four days for supporters to visit

Manchester City are about to officially open a pop-up pub dedicated to two of their departing players.

The time has finally come for John Stones and Bernardo Silva to leave Man City, after incredible 10 and nine year spells respectively.

During that period, both players have won 20 trophies, most famously including the treble success in 2022/23.

This Sunday will be the final time the stars appear at the Etihad Stadium as City players, and the club have done something special to pay tribute to the loyal duo.

Man City open The Stones & Silva pub

At 4pm on Thursday afternoon, Manchester City will open The Stones & Silva – a pop-up pub which is currently housing the Carabao and FA Cup trophies.

Each day, the first 100 supporters to make their way into the establishment will be handed a free drink, while they enjoy an environment celebrating two of the longest-serving Citizens.

The pub will be open for four days, closing for the final time on May 24, which is the date of Man City’s final match this season.

Is Pep Guardiola putting off an announcement to give Stones and Silva their moment?

As well as Stones and Silva, it is commonly thought that Guardiola will depart Man City, with an announcement likely after Sunday’s game.

However, the manager has claimed he will not make a decision on his future until after the Aston Villa match.

Based on the fact so many trusted sources have reported on Guardiola’s exit, it seems likely he has already chosen to step down a year before his contract expires.

But the ex-Spain international could be holding off on breaking his news, in order to allow Stones and Silva to be given a proper send-off.

Confirmation of Guardiola’s exit would certainly shift the limelight in his direction, which is something he will wish to avoid.

Man City will need to replace Silva but Stones is less of a concern

Finding a replacement for Silva will be one of Hugo Viana’s top priorities in the summer transfer window, with City’s midfield in need of some upgrading anyway.

With Rodri recently spending time on the sidelines due to an injury, Guardiola has struggled to identify a reliable backup option.

Elliot Anderson is the obvious candidate, but the Sky Blues will be considering a wide range of choices over the next few months.

As for Stones, Man City’s situation is far less concerning. The defender has only started 12 matches this season, and there is plenty of cover in his position.

With Marc Guehi joining from Crystal Palace in January, the club should not need any new additions in the central defensive area, unless another player follows Stones out the door.
