Pep Guardiola is expected to part ways with Manchester City at the end of the season, and his replacement has already been lined up.

For a decade, Pep Guardiola has captivated Man City supporters with his tactical genius and total domination of English football.

The manager won his 20th trophy at the weekend when he lifted the FA Cup, which means he has averaged two pieces of silverware per season.

However, there have been rumours circulating for some time that Guardiola will be leaving once the campaign comes to an end.

Pep Guardiola expected to leave Man City

According to BBC Sport, Man City are bracing themselves for Guardiola’s exit after their final Premier League match against Aston Villa.

The club are still hopeful that the Catalan boss will see out the length of his contract, but are preparing for his anticipated departure.

In the event that Guardiola does leave, City have lined up Enzo Maresca as their number one choice to take over.

The Italian was sacked by Chelsea in January, but he has a pretty good winning record as a manager, including triumphs in the Conference League and Club World Cup.

Guardiola has made history

Man City tasted success before Guardiola’s arrival, but he turned them into a team where winning every single year became more than just an aspiration.

Each season City are expected to come out on top, due to the winning culture the manager has instilled in the club.

There have only been two campaigns under Guardiola’s management where he has failed to win silverware.

And to be honest, his 2022/23 treble which included the Champions League made up for any less successful seasons.

Ending on a high

The reality right now is that Arsenal are probably going to win the Premier League, which is a shame for Guardiola.

However, he has lifted two trophies this season. Without a doubt, it has been a successful year with plenty to celebrate.

If this is truly the end, congratulations Pep for your vast achievements, and all the best for whatever comes next. Our manager, our legend!
