Pep Guardiola has won the Premier League manager of the month award after he oversaw three Manchester City wins.

The Premier League table is weighted in Arsenal’s favour after Monday night, when Manchester City were held to a 3-3 draw by Everton.

However, things were looking good before that, as the Citizens claimed three league victories in the month of April.

City thrashed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, took three points off the Gunners and edged past Burnley by a one-goal margin.

These triumphs were highly significant, as Pep Guardiola’s team moved top of the Premier League for a brief period.

Pep Guardiola named Premier League manager of the month

As a result of Man City’s performances in April, Pep Guardiola has won the manager of the month award.

The City boss is thoroughly deserving of the honour, and he also helped his side reach the FA Cup final, which of course is not reflected by this particular achievement.

Guardiola has now won the award twice this season, having been presented with it back in February for the first time since December 2021.

Man City stars miss out on player of the month award

When Guardiola was previously named as manager of the month, Antoine Semenyo won the player version.

There was a chance for a double triumph again, as Rayan Cherki and Nico O’Reilly both received nominations for April’s player of the month.

Nevertheless, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White has won it this time around, after bagging four goals and an assist in three Premier League appearances.

Guardiola will care more about his team’s success than individual honours

It is always nice to be recognised for your achievements, but Guardiola will only care about ensuring Man City end the season as champions.

The Sky Blues have already lifted the Carabao Cup, and adding the FA Cup to their collection on May 16 is a big priority.

However, the Premier League is English football’s greatest prize, and Guardiola will be desperate to get his hands on the trophy again.

Guardiola may play it cool in press conferences, but winning the league after a disappointing campaign last season will be exactly what he is determined to accomplish.
