Pep Guardiola has provided the latest Manchester City team news ahead of Manchester City’s match against Brentford.

Manchester City need three points this Saturday, but Brentford are a team flying high in the Premier League table.

The Citizens were unable to win all three points last Monday, with Everton having a lot of joy in the second half.

Rodri was unavailable for selection, while Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol have both been out for some time.

Still, it was reported yesterday that both Dias and Gvardiol had returned to training, handing Pep Guardiola a major boost as the end of the season draws ever closer.

Pep Guardiola shares the latest on Rodri

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Guardiola has shared how close Rodri is to making his return for Man City.

The manager is not yet able to say if his midfield maestro will be fit for the Brentford clash, but he has provided a hint.

“We will see this afternoon,” Guardiola said when asked if Rodri would be available to play on Saturday evening.

He then went on to insist that Rodri’s absence was not the reason Man City conceded three goals against Everton.

Guardiola added: “We have survived without him for many months. He doesn’t feel completely comfortable. We do not depend on Rodri not being there.”

Josko Gvadriol is back in training

Guardiola also delivered the latest news on Gvardiol, although he has not given any update on what was already shared on Thursday night.

The defender is training again, but there is no word on how close he is to being fully fit to play in competitive matches.

He is training. It has been many months. He has been an important player for us,” Guardiola continued.

“Glad he is back and make a good World Cup. Next season we can have him at his best. He plays so fast, so quick, like Ruben [Dias] as well.”

When asked about the situation regarding a potential new contract for Gvardiol, the 55-year-old added: “I have no info. I would love Gvardiol to stay here.”

Man City can get a win without their injured players

The draw with Everton was a result of big individual mistakes which are not usually such a common occurrence at Man City.

Undoubtedly, the presence of players like Rodri has been missed. However, Guardiola is spot on to point out that this is not why points were recently dropped.

The Sky Blues beat Arsenal without their injured stars and they should be able to secure another victory on Saturday, provided they are not so sloppy.

On paper, City are the team with more quality and they just need to play a composed game and avoid any switch offs in their concentration levels.
