Mateo Kovacic still has a place at Man City
The Citizens have plenty of midfield options, and have managed to steer towards a domestic treble triumph without requiring Kovacic’s help.
However, the Croatia international is still seen as a valuable member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, according to The Athletic.
Despite this, it is thought that City could receive some offers for Kovacic in the summer, particularly if he does well at the World Cup.
Nico Gonzalez is attracting interest
City’s hero on Saturday is quite popular with the supporters due to his solid all-round game and versatility.
Other clubs are taking notice, as The Athletic have reported that several sides are monitoring Nico’s situation.
The 24-year-old is contracted to Man City for another three years, but there are bound to be questions over his future with so few starts recorded this season.
Manchester City want to sign Eli Kroupi
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Pep Guardiola has been impressed by Kroupi since his move to the Premier League last year.
Several decision-makers at Man City are also keen on the 19-year-old, and Hugo Viana has met with his agent.
However, no contact has been made with Bournemouth, who are looking to charge at least £69.3m for their striker.
Pep Guardiola grants Man City players three rest days
In order to avoid burnout, Guardiola has opted to grant his players a three-day break from training, after City’s 2-1 win over Southampton.
The players will not be under any strict guidelines during their time away, but being back at the Etihad Campus by midweek is essential.
Guardiola said in his post-match press conference: “They can do whatever they want. If they want to travel wherever, yeah. They are completely free, as long as they arrive Wednesday afternoon to training, it’s fine.
“I learnt in this country as much days off, the team plays better. People believe as much you train you’ll play better, and it’s completely the opposite.
“You have to train, of course, [but] you have to arrive fresh in the moment of the game. I’ve learnt that since I arrived. In the beginning I trained a lot. Now, home, and quality time.”
Pep Guardiola calls Matheus Nunes one of the best
It seems Guardiola is one of Nunes’ biggest fans, considering the praise he has recently heaped on the 27-year-old.
Nunes has made an impression on his boss due to the way his varied skillset in both halves of the pitch.
Guardiola said in his post-match press conference: “Matheus Nunes is becoming one of the best right-backs in the world; defensively, attention to the line, arriving to the by-line – many, many good things!”
The Man City manager was also complimentary about Rayan Ait-Nouri, noting how Omar Marmoush had ‘four of five chances’ created from the wide positions.
