Pep Guardiola is speaking to the media today ahead of Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final tie against Southampton.

Stay tuned as we bring you the latest updates on that, along with the all the other Manchester City news of the day.

Rodri will not play for Man City in the FA Cup tomorrow

Pep Guardiola has provided an update on Rodri, and he has seemingly confirmed that the midfielder is back to match fitness.

Despite this, Rodri will be rested against Southampton, as the Man City manager has no interest in taking any risks.

Guardiola said: “He’s better [but we’re] not taking risks. He won’t play. We don’t want to take risks.”

Jeremy Doku desperate to add to Man City goal tally

Four goals in 40 appearances this season is surprisingly low for a player of Doku’s quality. The young forward is a long way off the likes of Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, with 18 so far.

Doku does have 13 assists to his name in 2025-26, but admitted he is determined to score more often and add to his tally.

He told The Guardian: “Of course [he wants to score more]. I feel like if I have goals, we are talking about a different conversation. Assists – I’m fine.

“I have to be more in the areas where you can score easy goals, tap-ins. When I look at my goals, even this season, every time they are with dribbles. I want to score even five tap-ins a-season – that would make a big difference.

“A winger needs to score. If I have those goals then I believe that I can get there to be the world’s best winger, for sure, 100%.”

Manchester City freeze season tickets after fan pressure

In November, more than 100 fan groups from across the Premier League published an open letter urging clubs not to increase ticket prices.

Nevertheless, the Daily Mail have reported that Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds United, Brighton and Sunderland have all put their prices up for next season.

City, however, along with Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest, have opted to retain their existing prices.

The Sky Blues held lengthy talks with fan representative board, City Matters, discussing issues such as pricing and ticket exchange.

Following these talks, the club agreed to retain current prices and simplify ticket exchange rules to allow season ticket holders to pass tickets to family members and friends if they cannot attend a match.

Enzo Maresca tipped for Manchester City job

According to The Guardian, Maresca is the leading candidate to replace former mentor Guardiola at the Etihad.

Guardiola previously described the Italian as “one of the best managers in the world”, with the pair maintaining a close relationship thanks to their time working together at City.

Maresca worked under Pep in 2023, as the Sky Blues won the Champions League and claimed an historic treble.

The two coaches share a similar footballing philosophy, and this is one of the reasons Maresca is considered such an ideal replacement for Guardiola.

Manchester City want RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande

At just 19 years old, RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has already been attracting interest from a number of top clubs, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

The Ivorian teenager has 12 goals and seven assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances this season, and has already been capped nine times by his country.

According to Sky Sports, City have been keeping a close eye on the young forward, and are seriously considering a move to bring him to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Jeremy Doku motivated by past defeats

If City do get past Southampton, they will reach a fourth consecutive FA Cup final. However, Doku is hoping for a different result than previous defeats against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Speaking to The Guardian, he explained how those losses helped motivate the squad to go one better and make it a double cup success this season.

Doku said: “They stay on your mind, but I try to not shift my attention to the things I don’t have. I’m grateful for what I’ve won already.

“So being in the semi-final, I want to go back to the final and win that trophy. Because I won a Carabao Cup, I won the Premier League, so I want to win the FA Cup as well.”

Man City target Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez

Liam Rosenior was sacked yesterday after Chelsea’s 3-0 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion. With chaos at Stamford Bridge, The Athletic now reports that Guardiola’s side are now considering adding Enzo Fernandez to their midfield.

The report also suggests that the Sky Blues’ interest in Fernandez is still in the early stages. However, the Chelsea star might become their priority if a deal for Anderson falls through.

Real Madrid are also interested in the midfielder. Likewise, Fernandez previously made comments regarding Los Blancos, which got him in trouble at Chelsea.
