- Semenyo suffers racial abuse
- Forward posted screenshots on Instagram
- Man City doing all they can to support him
Manchester City are offering their full support and care to Antoine Semenyo after the forward revealed evidence of racial abuse for a second time this season.
On Monday, the 26-year-old posted screenshots on his Instagram story with the caption ‘It’s started again’.
Earlier this season, while playing for former club Bournemouth, the February Player of the Month winner reported being racially abused by a fan in his side’s 4-2 loss against Liverpool.
According to BBC Sport, City are understood to be offering Semenyo their full care and support in the wake of this latest incident, which can only be described as sickening.
Man City supporting Semenyo after latest racial abuse
While there is little the club can do to reduce the emotional impact and distress Semenyo must be feeling after suffering such abuse, City are offering as much care and support as possible.
Despite numerous campaigns and measures brought in to eliminate racism in football, the advent of social media has made it easier than ever to send targeted abuse directly to players.

Semenyo is unfortunately just the latest in a long line of players to receive such messages, which are often difficult to trace to individuals due to their use of anonymous accounts online.
Four Premier League players were sent racist abuse in a single week in February, with the UK Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) investigating each incident.
Racial abuse aimed at Man City players once again
This is sadly not the first time that City players have been on the receiving end of racial abuse, either. In 2024, former Sky Blues defender Kyle Walker was the victim of abuse, while women’s striker Bunny Shaw suffered racist and misogynistic abuse last year.
At the time, Walker spoke out against the growth on online abuse, challenging social media platforms like Instagram to do more to tackle the issue.
He said: “No-one should ever be subject to the sort of vile, racist and threatening abuse I have received online since last night’s match.
“Instagram and the authorities need to stop this happening for the sake of all who are suffering this abuse. It is never acceptable.
“To our fans, we will continue to work as a team to do better, to improve, and turn the corner together.”
Man awaiting trial after Bournemouth incident
Following August’s incident, a 47-year-old man, Mark Morgan, was arrested and charged by Merseyside Police with a racially aggravated section 5 public order offence.
Morgan denied the offence at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court in December, with the court hearing that a trial is scheduled for 22 April.
Semenyo scored twice in that match as Bournemouth came from behind to level against Liverpool at Anfield, before two late goals secured victory for the hosts.
