Manchester City Celebrate Two Year Vivianne Miedema Anniversary

Vivianne Miedema’s two-year Manchester City marker has landed at a useful moment for Andree Jeglertz.

City used Sunday afternoon to look back on Miedema’s first two seasons in blue, exactly two years after her arrival from Arsenal was confirmed on 5 July 2024. The anniversary is more than a soft club-media milestone. It re-centres one of the decisive attacking questions around the WSL champions before the 2026/27 campaign.

Miedema underwent a successful knee operation in June, with City confirming that the WSL and Netherlands record scorer was aiming for a swift return in the build-up to the new season.

The club also noted that she produced 14 goals and five assists across all competitions last season, including City’s final goal in the FA Cup final win over Brighton.

Jeglertz Gets A Timely Attacking Reminder

For Jeglertz, the timing matters.

City have already strengthened the forward line with Beth Mead joining on a deal until 2029, while Khadija Shaw, Lauren Hemp and Miedema give the manager a front line built on proven output rather than promise.

ReadManCity has already covered how Mead’s arrival changes the WSL title defence and Champions League return. Miedema’s fitness now sits alongside that same planning issue.

City do not just need star names. They need availability, rhythm and combinations that can survive a heavier calendar.

Miedema’s status gives them a different attacking reference point. She can finish inside the box, drop between lines and connect play in a way that changes how opponents defend City’s front line.

That is why this anniversary carries a competitive edge. With City also pushing 2026/27 season-ticket demand around the Joie Stadium, Miedema’s return would give the champions a headline football reason to match the commercial momentum.

If she returns sharply, City do not merely regain another senior attacker. They regain a player whose presence can help Jeglertz turn attacking depth into control.
