Manchester City have had to temporarily turn their focus away from signing Elliot Anderson due to a situation involving one of the club’s own players.

Various players have been linked with Manchester City ahead of the summer transfer window, with Elliot Anderson’s name mentioned more than any other.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder is having another fine season, despite his club’s struggles in the Premier League.

It was recently reported that Man City were confident in signing Anderson. However, Manchester United are also keen on securing the England international.

Manchester City are focused on Rodri

According to Florian Plettenberg, Man City have registered their interest in Anderson, but they are yet to make direct contact with Nottingham Forest.

Plus, the club’s main ambition at this point in time is to ensure Rodri puts pen to paper and signs a new contract, with the Spaniard’s current deal expiring next year.

Once City turn their attention back to Anderson, they will need to compete with the Red Devils to add him to their squad, in a deal which could cost up to £120m.

Man City need Rodri to make a decision quickly

Last weekend, Man City offered Rodri a new contract and now the club must get the midfielder to make a decision on his future as soon as possible.

The Citizens need to be able to focus on bringing Anderson to the Etihad Stadium, while ensuring Man United do not hijack the deal.

Rodri has been superb for Man City, but no individual is more important than the badge. He needs to make up his mind to allow Pep Guardiola and the club hierarchy to make some important decisions regarding the summer transfer window.
