- City will face one of Chelsea, Southampton, West Ham or Leeds in the semi-finals.
Erling Haaland reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City after his hat-trick helped them beat Liverpool 4-0 in the Quarter Finals of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
With Pep Guardiola serving a touchline ban, former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders took charge at the Etihad as City ran riot in the Manchester sunshine.
Victory meant City have reached the FA Cup semis for a record eighth successive season, and handed Arne Slot’s Liverpool another crushing defeat.
For Haaland, it was a statement performance that reminded everyone just how important he is to this City side.
Erling Haaland is ‘super happy’ at Manchester City
After a tough start to 2026, Haaland bounced back with a bang against Liverpool, netting a stunning hat-trick.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the win, the 25-year-old hinted that his future remains at the Etihad – for now at least.
He said: “I’m just super happy to be here.
“Another Wembley trip for us – amazing. This club, we have to win trophies and we have to perform at the best and biggest stage.”
With City undergoing somewhat of an overhaul in terms of personnel, Pep Guardiola’s squad has changed significantly in the past 12 months.
New January additions such as Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo have made a massive impact. But keeping the likes of Haaland will be equally important.
What has been going wrong for Haaland?
It has been a frustrating period for the forward. The prolific number nine has been far from his best, and City have looked blunt in the final third.
Haaland has looked increasingly frustrated, and his performances had been well below par.
However, after impressing in the 2-0 Carabao Cup final victory over Arsenal, he returned to the scoresheet emphatically on Saturday.
With pressure mounting on Arsenal, City are still in the Premier League title race. Plus, if Haaland can maintain this vein of form, they might just be able to close the gap.
