Haaland tipped for Kane partnership if Man City future changes

Erling Haaland could form a formidable partnership with Harry Kane at Bayern Munich if his Manchester City future ever changes, according to talkSPORT’s European football expert Andy Brassell.

Speculation around Haaland has inevitably increased following the findings against Man City, despite the Norway international being tied to the Etihad Stadium until 2034.

Real Madrid have long been associated with the striker, but Brassell believes Bayern could also emerge as a serious option if Haaland became available. More intriguingly, he doesn’t believe the presence of Kane would necessarily stand in the way.

Haaland and Kane could play together

Speaking to talkSPORT, Brassell pointed towards Bayern’s previous attempt to sign Haaland and believes the German champions could revisit their interest.

“They were prepared, Bayern, to put it all in for Erling Haaland,” he said.

Brassell believes Kane’s evolving game could eventually allow the England captain to operate deeper, leaving Haaland as Bayern’s principal goalscorer. He even suggested the arrangement could eventually resemble the roles previously occupied by Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski in Munich.

“I don’t think that is a mad idea at all, because we know that Haaland will always be a pure goal scorer,” Brassell added.

Real Madrid remain the other obvious potential destination in his view, with Brassell adamant the Spanish giants would make room for Haaland if he reached the market.

“If Haaland is on the open market, they will definitely be going in for him,” he said.

For now, that remains hypothetical. Haaland signed his extraordinary long-term City contract in January 2025 and there is no suggestion that the club are currently looking to sell him.

But uncertainty surrounding City’s future has inevitably raised questions about their biggest names, and Brassell believes Bayern and Real Madrid would be two clubs worth watching if circumstances were ever to change.
