  • Man City are interested in Elliot Anderson
  • Reports suggest the club are leading the race to sign him
  • Manchester United are also keen on the midfielder

Manchester City are in the strongest position to sign Elliot Anderson, but one club are about to do everything in their power to hijack his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Bernardo Silva is still looking likely to depart Manchester City this season, which means a new midfielder could be required to bolster Pep Guardiola’s squad.

It is no secret that Man City want to sign Elliot Anderson and they are reportedly in the lead to secure his services next season.

However, Manchester United are not giving up on their pursuit of the England international. In fact, the Red Devils are ready to seriously rival City in order to complete a deal.

Manchester United will prioritise Elliot Anderson during the summer transfer window

According to The Sun, Man United are ready to make Anderson the marquee arrival at Old Trafford this summer.

It is even said that Michael Carrick’s team will plan their summer recruitment around the Nottingham Forest star.

Whereas, Man City are said to be sanctioning a move only on the basis that Rodri fails to get back to his best.

Therefore, while City are leading the way to sign Anderson, there is still a chance for United to jump in front.

Man City should not base their Anderson decision on Rodri’s form

Rodri will be 30 years old before the 2026/27 season has even started, while Anderson only turns 24 in November.

Clearly, the Englishman has the best years of his career still to come, while Rodri has likely already given his best performances in a sky blue shirt.

This is exactly why Man City should match Man United’s ambitions and prioritise a summer transfer for Anderson.

It does not matter what happens at the club this summer as to who stays and who goes. Anderson is a top class talent and City must do everything in their power to swipe him before it is too late.
