Elliot Anderson has addressed speculation regarding his future, during a pre-match press conference ahead of England’s upcoming clash with Japan.

Manchester City have already been linked with a number of players prior to the start of the summer transfer window.

Among these, Elliot Anderson is wanted by Man City, but Pep Guardiola’s team are in a two-way battle with Manchester United to sign the England international.

In fact, Man United view Anderson as a priority signing and are planning to beat the Citizens to his signature.

As a result, Man City may need to act quickly to keep themselves in front of the Red Devils, as the race for Anderson intensifies.

Elliot Anderson is only focused on England

The fact Anderson is preparing for a World Cup this summer makes it difficult for both Man City and United to negotiate a deal for the 23-year-old.

Right now, his focus is solely on representing the England national team and this will continue up to the summer.

Speaking ahead of the Three Lions’ next match, Anderson told the media: “Obviously we’ve got the World Cup this summer, so all my eyes are on that.

“Playing for England, I’ve obviously got the badge on now so that’s all I’m thinking about at the moment,” he added.

Anderson may well leave Nottingham Forest this summer

Every time there is speculation about Anderson’s future, he responds by bringing up the World Cup. This is interesting, as he could simply say that he is happy at Nottingham Forest and not actively looking to move.

However, Anderson is one of the country’s finest midfielders, while Forest are scrapping for Premier League survival.

Therefore, it is likely that the Englishman will end his two-year stay at the City Ground before the summer transfer window slams shut.

The biggest question ultimately appears to be about whether Anderson will join Man City, or opt for the red side of Manchester.
