  • He played well, but was unable to do one thing

Jeremy Doku delivered a pleasing performance in Belgium’s opening match of the international break, but was one problem which has often been the case this season.

Getting starts at a club like Manchester City is far from easy, which talented winger Jeremy Doku knows all too well.

The 23-year-old may have made 36 appearances across all competitions this season, but he only actually started 13 Premier League matches.

Having said that, Doku is seemingly becoming more favoured by Pep Guardiola. After all, he played all 90 minutes of the Carabao Cup final and started both Champions League last 16 fixtures against Real Madrid.

Better still, Doku recently received an international call-up and he represented Belgium on Saturday night, as they thrashed the US national team 5-2.

Jeremy Doku played well for Belgium

During his 70 minutes on the pitch, Doku had a great game for his country, completing three successful dribbles during the match.

The Belgian also created three goalscoring opportunities, landed two shots on target and had 15 touches in the penalty box of Mauricio Pochettino’s team. It is no wonder he received a 7.7 match rating on Fotmob.

However, Doku was unable to register a goal contribution, despite the fact Belgium netted five times in total.

Doku does not score enough for Man City

In fairness, Doku does get his fair share of assists. This season, he already has 12 for Man City, six of which have come in the Premier League.

Still, when it comes to goals, Doku is definitely not turning any heads. He has only scored three times this season, with his most recent one coming in November last year.

Undoubtedly, Doku is a really good player and he has improved since he first arrived at the Etihad Stadium.

Nevertheless, the left winger has to become more dangerous in front of goal, as three goals in a season is simply not enough for an attacker.
