- Rodri said it would be hard to turn down clubs like Real Madrid in a recent interview
- He has since been linked with a move away from Manchester City
- The midfielder has now addressed this speculation
Rodri has been linked with a move to Real Madrid due to a recent interview, but he believes his comments have been taken out of context.
Manchester City are likely to see plenty of departures this summer, and these will not exclusively be squad players.
Bernardo Silva has a high chance of moving on and Rodri has also been under the spotlight, with rumours about a move to Spain coming to light.
This has come after Rodri’s controversial interview, where he said it would be hard to refuse an offer from the best clubs in the world.
Rodri plays down Man City exit talks
Although Rodri seemed keen on a move to Real Madrid, he has again spoken to the media in order to provide clarity on his situation.
According to the Spaniard, the released clips from the interview do not tell the full story. He has encouraged people to listen to all his comments, rather than a select few.
Rodri told Mundo Deportivo: “Well, I’m used to it. If, out of a 50-minute interview, they cut out whatever they want.
“In the end, I don’t have much more to say. I’m a person who speaks directly. The interview is there if you want to listen to it in its entirety, and not just certain snippets.”
Man City want Rodri to sign a new contract
It has been reported that Man City want to keep Rodri and this was before the latest comments he has made after Spain’s victory over Serbia.
With Rodri seemingly backtracking on his previous remarks, there could well be a chance to rectify the situation and begin talks over a new contract.
However, many Man City fans will already feel the damage has been done, so it will be interesting to see how they react once the midfielder is back at the Etihad Stadium.
