Bernardo Silva has explained how Manchester City’s newest recruits are adapting to meet the lofty expectations of the club.

Playing for Manchester City requires boatloads of talent and hard work. Nobody knows this better than Bernardo Silva, who has been lighting up the Etihad Stadium for nine years.

Silva is a six-time winner of the Premier League and City’s recent Carabao Cup win was just one of a much larger collection of trophies for the captain.

Other than last season, Silva has lifted silverware in each campaign where he has represented his current team. As the player himself has put it, this is the ‘standard of the club’.

Bernardo Silva praises Man City’s newest signings

Man City might not have experienced a full squad overhaul, but there have been a lot of changes to note in recent years.

Despite this, City’s newest stars have slotted in well and have quickly learnt what is required to wear the famous sky blue jersey.

Silva told the Official Man City podcast: “For sure I see the same hunger to succeed in the new guys.

“Now they know the standards of this club. The standard that is required and that we set in the last eight or nine years at this football club.

“It gives them even more hunger to go for it and to say ‘Look, we are also capable of that.’ Because this club in the last years we proved that if you want to be a part of it you need to be a winner,” he continued.

“These guys that have joined the club in the last two or three years they are really, really good. They can put this club exactly where it was – in a place where we can fight for titles every season.

“So, I see the fire in their eyes and that’s a very good thing.”

Man City could win more trophies this season

The likes of Antoine Semenyo, Marc Guehi and Rayan Cherki might not have to wait too long in order to win even more silverware.

Man City clinched the League Cup and their FA Cup hopes are still very much alive. In fact, a win over Liverpool after the international break would see Pep Guardiola’s team set up a semi-final clash at Wembley.

The Premier League is not out of the question either and with City’s players hungry to succeed, the sky really is the limit.
