- Rodri appears to be pushing for a move to Real Madrid
- This is disrespectful to Man City and their supporters
- The midfielder should follow Bernardo Silva’s example
Rodri should seek to emulate his captain, after making remarks about his Manchester City future which are nothing short of disrespectful.
Not so long ago, Rodri was refusing to say whether he would leave Man City this summer, but there is no secret to what he is now planning.
In a bizarre twist of events, Rodri has hinted at a possible Real Madrid move, saying it is impossible to rule out joining the ‘best clubs in the world’.
The midfielder obviously has a complicated history with Real Madrid and this is not merely because he played for their local rivals.
Los Blancos kicked up a massive fuss when Rodri won the Ballon d’Or and yet he is practically begging for them to sign him up.
Rodri should try to be more like Bernardo Silva
Man City fans can say what they want about Bernardo Silva’s performances this season. Yes, there have been times when his attacking threat has been lacking, and he has accumulated too many bookings.
However, when it comes to his conduct in press conferences and interviews, Silva has stayed classy and professional.
It is no secret that Silva is likely to depart Man City this season, but he has not speculated on where he off to next. In fact, he has not even dropped any clues.
This is how a player should behave, with respect and dignity towards the club and fanbase who have backed him over so many years. Indeed, Rodri could certainly learn a thing or two from his captain.
Man City need to sell Rodri this summer
Although Rodri has not explicitly stated he will leave Man City this summer, he has indicated it. Quite clearly, the 29-year-old would fancy a move to Real Madrid, which means the best decision City can make is to let him go.
The Spaniard’s contract expires next year and it seems most likely that he will leave as a free agent, unless his team can secure a sale this summer.
Therefore, the Citizens have to be looking to offload Rodri as soon as possible, in order to gather a transfer fee.
Following this, Rodri should still receive the thanks and gratitude of everyone at Man City for how he has contributed to the club since he arrived. However, a move to Real Madrid would be a kick in the teeth to every supporter who backed him when he won the Ballon d’Or.
