  • Bernardo Silva’s Man City contract expires this summer
  • He is attracting interest from multiple clubs
  • There is no chance the captain will join his old team

Manchester City are likely to lose Bernardo Silva this summer, but he will not be joining the club where he started his career.

Bernardo Silva is entering the final few months of his Manchester City contract ahead of a summer where he has a big decision to make.

There have been no talks between the Portugal international and his club about a new deal, meaning he is set to depart when the transfer window reopens.

Silva has a number of options on the table, but he has already made the decision to rule out one which would see him return to his home country.

Bernardo Silva will not rejoin Benfica

According to A Bola, Benfica are not looking to sign Silva and the player himself would not consider a return to Portugal at this stage in his career.

The midfielder reportedly has goals to achieve abroad and he wants to continue playing in one of the world’s top leagues.

Silva is still confident he can agree a new deal which will see him earn the same amount he is currently pocketing at Man City. Therefore, there are more lucrative options than returning home.

Apparently, Juventus are already planning to offer Silva a three-year deal and he is also receiving interest from Galatasaray.

Silva is still good enough to play in the Premier League

Even after his birthday in August, Silva will only be 32 years old, so he should be able to keep playing at the highest level of European football for a few more years.

It seems unlikely Man City’s captain will stay in the Premier League, but he has the quality to play in the Italian equivalent.

Perhaps Silva would one day consider going back to his home country, but right now he is still good enough to be competing at a stronger level.
