  • Man City are looking to sign Adam Wharton
  • Carlos Baleba is also a possiblity
  • Both players have multiple clubs tracking their situations

Manchester City are reported to be interested in two Premier League midfielders who would cost the club an absolute fortune.

There are likely to be at least one or two midfielders joining Manchester City this summer. After all, Bernardo Silva is expected to leave on a free transfer and Rodri’s future is uncertain, so replacements will need bringing in.

Elliot Anderson is understood to be of interest to Man City and it would not be surising if an offer is made to sign him from Nottingham Forest.

However, City are lining up other options as well, including two Premier League midfielders who are both in the early stages of their respective careers.

Man City are interested in Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba

According to Sky Sports, Manchester City are lining up a move for Adam Wharton, but Pep Guardiola’s team will have to compete with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Crystal Palace will likely need to sell one of their top assets this summer and the Englishman is keen to play for a Champions League club.

Brighton’s Carlos Baleba is also on Man City’s radar, but again, there is interest from Man United and Arsenal.

The Red Devils were already informed in January that Baleba will cost £100m, so City must be willing to spend big in order to secure the 22-year-old.

Man City could come close to breaking their transfer record this summer

With Brighton’s asking price now revealed for Baleba, it is clear Man City will not be getting any cut-price deals this summer. That is unless they are willing to compromise on their primary transfer targets.

Anderson and Wharton are not going to be cheap either and it could be that City have to pay a similar fee to the one they spend on Jack Grealish.

Replacing someone who has been as good as Silva is just not doable without emptying their pockets. Therefore it would not be surprising if the Citizens part ways with up to £100m on an individual player this summer.
