Leroy Sane has piled the praise on Pep Guardiola while describing what it was like working with him at Manchester City.

Almost six years have passed since Leroy Sane departed Manchester City, but those who follow the club will remember his time there well.

The German international showed a lot of potential and he even won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2018.

Although Sane made the decision not to extend his contract at Man City, he still has fond memories of playing for the club, especially working with Pep Guardiola.

Leroy Sane speaks about ‘amazing’ Pep Guardiola

Sane had very limited experience in senior football when he first joined Man City, but Guardiola helped show him the ropes.

The legendary manager changed the way Sane looks at the sport and he always demanded the winger to give his all.

“He [Guardiola] was really tough in everything, in football on the pitch,” Sane told CBS Sports Golazo. He just wanted you to be perfect and do it over and over again.

“Because of him I saw football completely different after because what he would do details, tactical advice [that] was literally amazing for us as a team.

“When I played under him he just said ‘okay, you guys move a little bit different’, and all of a sudden in the second half we had the solutions and it was refreshing and amazing.”

Sane added: “To work with him was an absolute privilege and he changed my whole look of football completely because I think everyone can see what he does with the teams he has, the way how they play, how amazing they play. It was [an] amazing time.”

Guardiola has shown he still has his magic touch

No one will deny that Guardiola was a tactical genius in his prime, but he has taken a lot of criticism over the past season or two.

However, the Man City boss has shown he still knows how to win big matches, after his team put Arsenal to the sword in the Carabao Cup final.

Guardiola has already done plenty to etch himself into the club’s history and there could still be more to come.
