- Data MB has released a number of Rodri’s stats vs other Premier League midfielder
- The Spaniard is outperforming them in multiple areas
- Man City have work to do to keep him at the club beyond the summer
Rodri has had a great year since recovering from his ACL injury and his stats reveal just how important he has been to Manchester City.
It is always interesting to take a look at how Manchester City’s stars are compared with other Premier League players in this position.
Data MB provides useful insights and the football data account has released a number of Rodri’s most impressive stats.
Apparently, the Man City midfielder is outperforming other Premier League midfielders in 11 different areas, which includes both defensive and attacking attributes.
Rodri is a level above the rest in the Premier League
Per 90 minutes, no midfielder in the English top flight has won a higher percentage of the duels they have competed for than Rodri.
The Spaniard also leads the way for a number of passing statistics, including long pass accuracy and progressive passes completed.
Also, Rodri has more touches on average than his Premier League counterparts and he is the best contributor to his team’s possession.
Man City still need Rodri
Although Rodri is not the flashiest player, stats like these show the vast variety of qualities he brings to Manchester City.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner is so composed in the middle of the pitch and he would be a very tricky player to replace.
However, with Rodri’s contract expiring next year, City have work to do in order to prevent him from moving elsewhere, either this summer or 12 months down the line.
