- Clinton Morrison has named his Premier League team of the weekend
- Players from the Carabao Cup final have been included
- Manchester City have four defensive players in the team
Manchester City won the most important match of the weekend, causing Clinton Morrison to include four of the club’s players in his XI of the Saturday and Sunday’s best performers.
Arsenal supporters were talking about a quadruple on Sunday morning, but Manchester City have put an end to such dialogue.
The Sky Blues failed to create chances in the first half at Wembley, but their defence stood firm, keeping the score level at half-time.
In the second half, it was a very different story as Man City put Arsenal’s backline under all kinds of pressure, which led to errors from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Clinton Morrison names four Man City players in his team of the weekend
Ex-Republic of Ireland international Clinton Morrison was certainly impressed by Man City’s performance, as he has named four of their players in his team of the weekend.
Nico O’Reilly is an obvious inclusion after his stunning brace, while Matheus Nunes has been included too, after his assist for the second goal.

Nathan Ake has also made the cut, after doing a fine job filling in for the injured Ruben Dias at centre-back.
Finally, the Dutchman is joined by James Trafford, who kept Man City level in the first half with a superb triple save moment. It was a big call to start the Englishman over Gianluigi Donnarumma and he took his chance without hesitation.
Man City’s squad players have left Guardiola with some decisions to make
O’Reilly and Nunes have started their fair share of matches this season, but for Trafford and Ake, the League Cup final was a rare chance to impress in a big match.
Both players were excellent, which will make Guardiola’s job a lot more difficult, although he will not be complaining.
The Catalan manager must decide whether he wants to give them more chances and the FA Cup will be particularly interesting.
Should Man City go on to reach the final of that competition, maybe he would stick with a similar team to the one who defeated Arsenal.
