- Manchester City have reached the Carabao Cup final
- They have knocked out four teams along the way
- City have impressed at both ends of the pitch.
Manchester City are in the Carabao Cup final, having knocked out two Premier League teams in order to make it to Wembley.
Let’s take a look at how Manchester City have made it to the final round of the Carabao Cup, in a journey which began last September.
Huddersfield Town 0-2 Manchester City – September 24, 2025
Phil Foden had Man City ahead against Huddersfield after 18 minutes and Savinho wrapped up the victory towards the end of the match. The visitors did not field a first choice team, but that made no real difference to the result.
Swansea City 1-3 Man City – October 29, 2025
Goncalo Franco gave Man City a brief scare when he put Swansea ahead in the 12th minute, but Jeremy Doku levelled the score just before half-time. City were far more convincing in the second half, with goals from Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki respectively, sealing the win.
Manchester City 2-0 Brentford – December 17, 2025
Cherki was on target again, giving his team a lead over Brentford before the break. Then later on, Savinho made use of his return to the starting lineup by sealing a deadly second goal for the Citizens.

Newcastle 0-2 Man City – January 13, 2026
Man Ciy travelled to St James’ Park having lost there a month before in the Premier League. This time around, a second half goal scored by Antoine Semenyo put them ahead, before Cherki doubled their advantage late into stoppage time.
Manchester 3-1 Newcastle – February 4, 2026
Omar Marmoush delivered the magic in the second leg, handing City the tie before the half-time whistle had even been blown, while Tijjani Reijnders also chipped in with a goal. Anthony Elanga got on the scoresheet later on, but it was too little, too late for the Magpies.
Man City’s run to the Carabao Cup final is highly impressive
Despite Pep Guardiola’s decision not to go with his strongest lineups in the League Cup, Man City comfortably progressed past each round.
The Sky Blues have kept three clean sheets in five matches and are not exactly struggling in front of goal.
Therefore, regardless of Arsenal’s strong form across all competitions, there is every reason for City to have confidence ahead of Sunday afternoon’s Carabao Cup decider.
