- Wayne Rooney has predicted that Manchester City will win silverware this season
- The former striker also thinks Arsenal will add to their trophy cabinet
- Both teams are competing for the Carabao Cup this Sunday.
Wayne Rooney expects Manchester City and Arsenal to win a trophy this season and he has revealed which club he thinks will win the Carabao Cup.
Arsenal’s chances of lifting silverware this season seem quite promising. After all, the Gunners are top of the Premier League table and remain in three other competitions.
Man City’s situation on the other hand is not so good. Pep Guardiola’s team are nine points behind Arsenal in the league and were recently knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
However, Wayne Rooney does not believe City’s trophy cabinet will remain empty by the end of the season. The question is, which competition does he think they will win?
Wayne Rooney backs Man City to win the Carabao Cup
Rooney has told Prime Video Sport that Man City will seal a victory over Arsenal this Sunday in the Carabao Cup final.
Despite this, the ex-England international does not expect Arsenal to lose momentum, as he has predicted them to win the Premier League title.

On top of this, Rooney has also named Mikel Arteta’s side as his FA Cup winners, a tournament Man City still have a chance to wrap up.
Still, a treble is not on the cards, as Rooney has predicted Real Madrid to win the Champions League, after their thunderous displays against Man City.
Manchester City would gain confidence from a Carabao Cup triumph
If Man City do end up winning the League Cup, every one of those players is going to believe that the domestic treble is not yet out of the question.
City still have another Premier League fixture to play against Arsenal and their game in hand could reduce the gap to six points before that takes place.
Then there is the FA Cup, which the Citizens would certainly be targeting. If they beat Liverpool for a third time this season, they are already back at Wembley again for the semi-finals.
This shows just how important winning the Carabao Cup can be, so Guardiola had better be ready to lead his team to victory.
