Tony Cascarino makes huge Manchester City statement about ‘terrific’ Omar Marmoush

Omar Marmoush was Manchester City’s star player against Newcastle, causing him to receive praise from a former Premier League star.

Manchester City advanced to the FA Cup quarter-finals last Saturday and their victory might not have been possible without Omar Marmoush.

The Egpyptian scored both his team’s goals in the second half while delivering an outstanding individual performance.

However, Marmoush has only completed a 90-minute match three times for Man City this season and all those instances were in cup competitions.

Tony Cascarino heaps praise on Omar Marmoush

According to Tony Cascarino, Marmoush is the best player in the Premier League who is not starting on a weekly basis.

The ex-Chelsea man does not expect to see the striker line up against Real Madrid on Wednesday, but this is not a true reflection of what he can offer.

Cascarino told talkSPORT: “Here’s a question for you, out of all the players in the Premier League, is he [Marmoush] the best that doesn’t get a guaranteed start?

“I mean if you were to suggest that any club you’re at, about a player who you think is the best at there who should be playing, Marmoush is that to me.

“I doubt he’ll be in the first eleven in Madrid and he is for me [the] obvious best player that doesn’t play on a regular basis.”

He continued: “Just how good he is! He’s a talent, you can see how gifted he is and to get a goal like that, was I surprised? No, that’s why City bought him.

“He just can’t seem to find his place for City, but great, great footballer, really terrific.”

Marmoush is getting more minutes for Man City

Near the start of the season, Marmoush was only really making brief cameos off the bench, but this has changed since he returned from AFCON.

The 27-year-old had played at least 45 minutes of Man City’s past six Premier League matches, until he was benched against Nottingham Forest.

After Marmoush’s brilliant performance in the FA Cup, the likelihood of him player more often is surely only continuing to grow.
