Manchester City have secured a second win of the season at St James’ Park and Pep Guardiola believes there is something particularly special about this one.
The Newcastle fans were roaring with delight when their team took the lead over Manchester City, but the second half saw the visiting supporters bring out the iconic Poznan celebration.
This was in response to a comeback from their team which can only be described as absolute brilliance from the entire starting eleven.
Man City took over the game and never stopped looking for goals and in fairness, Newcastle were probably lucky to only lose by two goals.
Pep Guardiola brands Man City’s win their best at St James’ Park
Since arriving at Man City, Pep Guardiola has led his team on 13 occasions at St James’ Park, three of which have come this season.
While seven of these have ended in victories, Guardiola believes there is one performance which stands out as the best – the 3-1 victory on Saturday night.
Guardiola told TNT Sports: “The best performance we have done at this stadium [St James’ Park] in our time together here; really, really good!”
Guardiola will have a selection headache against Real Madrid
Man City’s win over Newcastle was brilliant to watch and Guardiola has certainly been encouraged by what he witnessed at St James’ Park.
However, it gives the manager plenty to think about ahead of his team’s trip to Madrid, because there were some special performances out there on Saturday.
Guardiola has to decide whether he wants to stick with his first-team, or make switches to bring in those who impressed the most against Newcastle.
