Omar Marmoush reacts after helping Manchester City sink Newcastle yet again

Manchester City are specialists at defeating Newcastle United and Omar Marmoush has played a key role in making this happen.

Omar Marmoush will be ecstatic after his match-winning display against Newcastle in the FA Cup fifth round.

The forward hit three shots on target, two of which made their way past Aaron Ramsdale and into the back of the net.

These efforts ultimately handed Manchester City a crucial victory, which secured the club’s place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Omar Marmoush does not know why he keeps scoring against Newcastle

Incredibly, Marmoush has now scored seven times in five matches when he has faced Newcastle. In fact, 50 per cent of the Egyptian’s goals for Man City have come against the Magpies.

Marmoush is just as baffled as those spectating about why he has such a strong record in this fixture, but he is delighted to be contributing to his team’s successes.

The goalscorer told TNT Sports: “As a number nine, the most important thing is the goals. These easy goals are much better and much easier, but I’m very happy to help the team with the goals.

“I saw Matheus break through [for the second goal]; he played the pass to me, I took a touch, and then it was open. I took a shot and I’m very happy that it went in.

“I don’t know what the secret is [against Newcastle], but I’m just happy to help the team again. We look forward to the next games!”

Marmoush loves a goal contribution when Man City play Newcastle

This season alone, Marmoush has now registered four goals and an assist against Eddie Howe’s team.

Interestingly, he only spent three minutes on the pitch when Man City lost to Newcastle in the Premier League, so maybe that would have gone differently if the 27-year-old was playing.

Marmoush’s record against Newcastle is truly remarkable and now he needs to find a way to score frequently against other teams too.

City have a reliable goalscorer in Erling Haaland, but there is no harm in having two strikers who regularly find the net.
