Why Ruben Dias believes Manchester City are ‘close to all the goals’

Ruben Dias assessed Manchester City’s progress this season, outlining why he is happy with the position his team find themselves in at the beginning of March.

Manchester City are having a mixed season and it is certainly not living up to certain campaigns of the past.

Pep Guardiola’s team suffered a couple of surprising defeats in the league phase of the Champions League and trail Arsenal by five points in the Premier League.

However, the Citizens are still in the FA Cup and are just one victory away from lifting the Carabao Cup.

Therefore, there are definitely positives to reflect on and Ruben Dias is of the mindset that Man City are in a good position right now.

Ruben Dias claims Man City are where they want to be

According to Dias, Manchester City are not far off achieving their goals, because they still have the chance to win four different competitions.

The defender believes City have improved as the season has progressed and they have laid the foundations for success.

He told Man City: “We’re exactly where we want to be. We’re in all the competitions.

“I think that maybe in the first three games [of the season] there was a phase of adaptation to which we had to react very positively. From then on, I think the team has been strong, consistent. I think we’ve been making consistent progress right from the start.

“I think we still have a lot of potential right now and I think we’re exactly where we want to be. We’re close to all the goals. There’s a lot going on and it’s very important right now to focus solely on our next game.”

Ruben Dias is expecting a tough game against Nottingham Forest

Man City might be in a good position now, but one bad result has the power to change that very quickly.

This means it is essential for the team in second to keep on seeing out victories, but doing so against Nottingham Forest will not be easy, because they have lots still to play for.

“I think that because they’re not in the most comfortable position, they become more dangerous,” Dias continued.

“And yes, it’s a difficult game. They’re a team with a lot of quality players, just like any other team in the Premier League.

“The mentality is always that we have to be at our best to get the three points and move on.”

Manchester City’s clash against Nottingham Forest kicks off at 7:30pm GMT and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 4 in the UK.
