Marc Guehi has made a quick start to life at Manchester City and one journalist has claimed the defender would have done just as well, had he joined a different club.
Manchester City had a very good mid-season transfer window, which saw Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi arrive at the Etihad Stadium.
Semenyo has already proved important with his goals, while Guehi has been nominated for Man City’s February player of the month award.
The former Crystal Palace captain has already helped to strengthen City’s defence and he was key to them keeping a clean sheet in their most recent match against Leeds United.
Henry Winter says Marc Guehi would start for Liverpool
Pep Guardiola may be the one who has Guehi at his disposal, but the English international was actually set to join Liverpool at the end of the summer transfer window.
The move ended up falling through at the last minute, but journalist Henry Winter is confident Guehi would be good enough to start for the Reds if he had moved to Anfield.
Liverpool’s failure to move earlier and more decisively for Marc Guehi last summer, giving Palace more time to find a replacement, has cost them dear. Fans warned that as the season began. Guehi would have brought more composure and security, and competition for Ibrahima Konate…

Winter posted on Social media: “Liverpool’s failure to move earlier and more decisively for Marc Guehi last summer, giving Palace more time to find a replacement, has cost them dear.
“Fans warned that as the season began. Guehi would have brought more composure and security, and competition for Ibrahima Konate in particular, and also for Virgil van Dijk [and Guehi better on the left].”
Then in response to a fan in his comment section, Winter wrote: “I’m a big Guehi admirer, and nobody is surprised by how well he’s fitted into City’s defence. He’s a quiet leader. On current form he’d absolutely start for Liverpool if they’d signed him.”
Guehi is already proving to be a bargain buy for Man City
Arriving for £20m, Guehi is certainly turning out to be an absolute bargain for Manchester City and this is just the beginning.
City are approaching an increasingly difficult period of the season and his talent and experience will be crucial in leading the Sky Blues to victory.
Guehi led Crystal Palace to an FA Cup triumph against Man City last season and he will soon have his chance for forgiveness from their fans by winning silverware under Guardiola.
