Marc Guehi reveals how he has had to adjust his game at Manchester City

Marc Guehi became quite the player at Crystal Palace, but he still has plenty to learn at Manchester City in order to truly reach his potential.

March Guehi was expected to join Liverpool last summer, but his move fell through on transfer deadline day, allowing Man City to swoop in a few months down the line.

The defender has jumped straight into Pep Guardiola’s first-team, starting five matches including the recent 2-1 victory over Newcastle.

Man City have only conceded four goals in fixtures where Guehi has featured and he even scored against Salford in the FA Cup after making an appearance off the bench.

Marc Guehi has had to expand his game at Manchester City

Guehi has already captained Crystal Palace and played for the England national team, but it appears being a member of the Man City squad is even more demanding.

According to the 25-year-old, he has had to make changes to the way he plays, but this has not stopped him from enjoying the journey so far.

Speaking after City’s win against Newcastle, Guehi told TNT Sports: “Joleon Lescott will know what a top club this place is. From the first minute I’ve come, everyone’s been so welcoming – the players, the staff.

“The manager has been great. I’ve had to adapt completely, change my game completely. I’m still learning a lot, each and every day.

“It’s difficult because there’s so many ideas, it’s more thought process as opposed to physical. Thinking a lot. Finding the right pass, when to pass the ball. Driving at players, committing players.

“There’s so many different aspects of the game that I’m learning, on the job! I don’t really have much time to embed myself, but it’s been great because I’ve had a lot of help – so it’s been fantastic!”

Guehi will want to win more trophies

Although playing for City is providing Guehi with a tough challenge, he will be eager to push on and overcome the obstacles which stand in his way of making it at the Etihad Stadium.

The January signing has already won an FA Cup and Community Shield and he will be doing everything he can in the coming months to ensure Man City win the Premier League title.

It would be some story for Guehi and a real confidence booster ahead of the World Cup wich takes place in the summer.
