Bernardo Silva records impressive Premier League stat with ‘all-action’ display

Manchester City are still well within the Premier League title race after a victory over Newcastle and a lot of credit should go to their captain after his relentless performance.

It has been a good weekend for Manchester City, following a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Nice O’Reilly was twice on target as the Sky Blues narrowly got the better of Eddie Howe’s team, who put up a good fight on the night.

This came after Leeds United earned a draw against Aston Villa, extending Man City’s lead over the third place team to five points.

Arsenal may still have a firm lead at the top of the table, but City have the opportunity to close the gap to two points again with a victory over Leeds next weekend.

Bernardo Silva covered an impressive distance against Newcastle

O’Reilly and Erling Haaland have received most of the plaudits after Saturday’s victory and such praise is very much deserved.

However, Bernardo Silva was also very impressive as a result of his excellent work ethic throughout the match.

The midfielder was quite literally all over the pitch and covered 12.4km in total, which accounted for 9.6 per cent of the distance his team covered overall.

Silva could leave Man City this summer

As previously reported, Silva’s contract expires at the end of the season and it is expected that he could choose to depart Manchester City after almost a decade.

This would be a huge blow, as it is clear that even into his 30s, Silva is still one of the hardest workers in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The Portuguese star has still got it and would surely maintain the ability to keep delivering for City at least for a couple more years.
