Manchester City mock Manchester United with brilliant social media post

Manchester City got the better of Newcastle to extend their winning run and the club’s social media has used the opportunity to poke fun at Manchester United.

Life is good if you are a Manchester City fan, with the Premier League title race beginning to look much more promising.

The Citizens narrowly defeated Newcastle on Saturday night, which takes the gap between first and second to just two points.

Should Arsenal end up losing the North London derby, this would mean that Man City could lead the way in the Premier League by winning their game in hand.

Manchester City taunt their cross-city rivals

Spirits are high in Man City’s camp after a fifth victory in a row and it seems even the club’s social media admin is enjoying their success.

Following City’s victory over Newcastle, the team’s official X account posted: “Five wins in a row. Time for a trim.”

This of course is a sly dig aimed at Manchester United, as one of their fans known as the United Strand is refusing to cut his hair until his team win five matches in a row.

The Red Devils looked like they would finally achieve this earlier in the month, but they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at the last hurdle.

Man City need to win every week

Five successive victories is impressive, but even more are required if City are to lift the Premier League trophy in three months’ time.

Each fixture is a must-win occasion right now and it is important that Pep Guardiola’s team pace themselves and take things one game at a time.

The manager has certainly been in similar situations before and his leadership will be as important as ever over the next few weeks.
