Khusanov plays the full game as Uzbekistan beat Iran 3-1

Abdukodir Khusanov played the full 90 minutes as Uzbekistan began their international break with a 3-1 friendly victory over Iran on Thursday.

The Man City defender started at centre-back in Fergana as Fabio Cannavaro’s side recorded a convincing win over a team ranked 37 places above them by FIFA.

Eldor Shomurodov put Uzbekistan ahead after 10 minutes before Iran levelled through a Jakhongir Urozov own goal four minutes into the second half. Shomurodov restored the lead from the penalty spot in the 58th minute, and Khusain Norchaev completed the scoring in stoppage time.

Khusanov faces South Korea next

Khusanov stayed on throughout, getting a full game under his belt in his first appearance of the international break.

Unlike several of his City teammates involved in the Nations League, the 22-year-old now has a sizeable gap before his next scheduled game.

Uzbekistan travel to South Korea for another friendly on Tuesday, 6 October, with kick-off at 11am UK time.

That is currently the final fixture on Khusanov’s international schedule before he returns to Manchester.

City resume their Premier League season against Liverpool on Sunday, 11 October, leaving the defender five days between the South Korea friendly and the return of club football.
