Man City linked with Morgan Gibbs-White as transfer race takes shape

Morgan Gibbs-White

City are reportedly keeping tabs on Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White as attention begins to turn towards next summer’s transfer window.

A fresh report from Hooligan Soccer claims City, Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the 26-year-old and assessing potential moves for the attacking midfielder.

It is also claimed Forest could discuss a deal worth around ‘€70m–€80m’, with bonuses and a sell-on clause potentially part of the package. That figure should be treated with caution. For now, it comes from the latest report rather than a firmly established asking price.

The City interest itself isn’t new, though. BBC Sport reported in July 2025 that Gibbs-White was on City’s radar before the Blues cooled their interest. He subsequently came close to joining Tottenham in a £60m deal, only for the proposed move to become embroiled in a dispute between Spurs and Forest.

Gibbs-White stayed at the City Ground and signed a new three-year contract later that month, which Forest described as a club-record deal.

So there is some history behind City’s name appearing alongside the England midfielder again, even if the latest claims are still at the speculative end of the transfer scale. One to keep an eye on rather than anything more substantial for now.
