Details of the violent robbery suffered by Gianluigi Donnarumma and his wife Alessia Elefante in Paris have emerged during a criminal court hearing in the French capital.
The City goalkeeper was playing for Paris Saint-Germain when four masked men broke into the couple’s flat on Avenue Montaigne in July 2023. Donnarumma and Elefante, who was pregnant at the time and was then his girlfriend, were asleep when the attackers entered their home.
Donnarumma account emerges during hearing
According to Donnarumma’s witness statement, reported by The Telegraph, he was struck in the face with a knuckle duster and threatened with a knife. The attackers demanded watches and money before tying up the couple.
Elefante told investigators she was pulled by the hair and struck on the thighs after the robbers demanded the code to a safe. She told them she was pregnant, but said the assault continued.
The details have emerged during a two-day hearing at a criminal court in Paris. Two men accused of masterminding the robbery deny involvement, while another defendant has admitted taking part but is not accused of using violence.
Donnarumma is not expected to give evidence in person, with his account contained in a statement given to investigators following the attack. The Italy international subsequently left PSG and is now a City player.
