Man City make Rayan Ait-Nouri January decision as Man Utd talks reopen

Aït-Nouri United

City are reportedly ready to allow Rayan Ait-Nouri to leave in January, with Manchester United among the clubs being sounded out over a potential deal.

A report earlier this week suggested the Algeria international’s future was increasingly uncertain after he fell down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca. Fresh claims now suggest City are actively working towards resolving his situation when the transfer window reopens.

City working on Ait-Nouri exit plan

According to TEAMtalk, sporting director Hugo Viana is working on an exit plan, with intermediaries already holding discussions with several interested clubs. Manchester United are among those after exploring a move towards the end of the summer window. The report claims communication has reopened over a possible January deal, while Everton and clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany are also reported to be interested.

City are said to be open to either a permanent transfer or a loan containing a mechanism for the move to become permanent. A fee of around £30m is reportedly being sought, although there is no suggestion at this stage that an agreement has been reached with United or any other club.

The situation follows a difficult start to the season for Ait-Nouri under Maresca. The 25-year-old has yet to play a Premier League minute, with Josko Gvardiol and Nico O’Reilly preferred on the left. His lack of football had already raised questions over his future when we covered the situation three days ago.

January therefore offers a possible route out for Ait-Nouri, although his next move is unclear.
