Ruben Dias appears unlikely to face a serious sanction following the half-time trouble during Man City’s Champions League victory over Porto.
The City captain was involved in the confrontation which followed a heated end to the first half at the Estádio do Dragao on Tuesday night.
Images appeared to show Dias putting a hand on Porto head coach Francesco Farioli as players and staff clashed near the tunnel.
Rúben Dias gets encouraging update
The Guardian reported on Wednesday that UEFA would wait for the reports of referee Szymon Marciniak and match delegate Stéphanie Ford before deciding whether action should be taken.
There now appears to be encouraging news for City.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola reports that the referee’s and UEFA delegates’ reports do not record any incident considered likely to result in a serious sanction for either club.
In particular, the report says no aggression was recorded.
UEFA could still impose fines on the clubs after assessing the trouble around the tunnel, so the matter is not necessarily closed.
But as things stand, the prospect of Dias receiving a serious punishment appears to have receded.
