City have suddenly given FPL managers a £100m problem

Man City FPL Haaland

City have started the season so well that Fantasy Premier League managers have been left with an unexpected problem.

How much of their £100m budget should they spend on Enzo Maresca‘s players?

The Premier League’s own FPL Scout is now asking whether it is time to triple up on City ahead of Saturday’s home game against Coventry.

And choosing the three isn’t necessarily straightforward.

Haaland, Cherki… and who else?

Erling Haaland costs a record £15.5m but already has two goals and 15 FPL points.

Rayan Cherki looks difficult to ignore at £7.7m.

His two goals and two assists from City’s opening two games have brought him 22 points, with more than 1.2million managers transferring him in ahead of Gameweek Three.

Then it gets interesting.

Joško Gvardiol has a goal and an assist, but Maresca’s changing defensive selections make investing at the back something of a gamble.

Phil Foden hasn’t scored yet, but his underlying numbers are excellent. He has already been involved in five big chances – more than either Haaland or Cherki – and has two assists.

The Premier League Scout has gone for Haaland, Cherki and Foden in its Gameweek Three selection. That feels significant in itself.

City have won two from two and scored six goals, while Coventry arrive at the Etihad having lost their opening two matches without scoring.

FPL managers are allowed three players from each club. The problem with City right now might be deciding which three.
