Grealish offered route out of City as Atletico weigh up audacious move

Atletico Madrid are considering a move for Jack Grealish, according to reports.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Everton, where he registered two goals and six assists in 22 appearances before a broken foot ended his campaign in January. He returned to City training in July.

Grealish was left out of City’s pre-season tour of Asia last week, prompting speculation he had already been frozen out. He rejected that on social media, saying he was still recovering from injury and had not been “left out.”

New City boss Enzo Maresca addressed his situation directly. “At the moment, he is here. He is a Manchester City player,” Maresca said. “I have a good relationship with Jack since I left. He has a big heart, and he is a very good guy.”

Should the Atletico interest not progress, Everton are said to retain an interest in bringing Grealish back to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on another loan. A return to Aston Villa, his boyhood club, has also not been ruled out.

Grealish has 12 months left on his City contract and would likely need to accept a reduced salary to move this summer.
