City are among four clubs being linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, with PSG said to be holding out for around €50m for the 18-year-old, according to Goal — an update on City’s interest, which you reported yesterday at a lower £40m asking price and with one fewer rival club in the mix.
Mbaye, who made four appearances and scored once for Senegal at this summer’s World Cup, has told PSG he wants to leave in search of regular first-team football, having struggled for minutes in Paris over the past season.
French journalist Santi Aouna reports that competition for his signature will be fierce, with Tottenham, Aston Villa, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund all credited with interest alongside City.
City’s pursuit of a new winger has been one of the clearer threads of director of football Hugo Viana’s summer, with the position identified as a priority under Enzo Maresca.
Mbaye’s profile as a right winger capable of playing on either flank is understood to fit the attributes City have prioritised in the market, and he is reported to have expressed a personal preference for a move to the Premier League.
The teenager has risen quickly through PSG’s academy since making his first-team debut last summer, going on to win back-to-back Ligue 1 titles and Champions League triumphs in 2024-25 and 2025-26, along with three French Under-19 titles.
He remains under contract in Paris until June 2028, giving the French champions leverage in any negotiation.
Nothing has been agreed, and PSG’s asking price is likely to shape how seriously any of the interested clubs pursue a deal.
