Man City among clubs credited with interest in Bournemouth’s Alex Scott

Manchester City are among the clubs to have shown interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, according to the Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most sought-after young midfielders after a breakout season on the south coast, scoring three goals and helping Bournemouth to a club-record sixth-place finish and a first-ever European qualification. Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United have also been credited with interest, with United reported to be readying an opening bid in the region of £60m.

Bournemouth are understood to value Scott at around £80m and have made clear he is not for sale, instead preparing a new long-term contract that could include a release clause in the £60m-£75m range. New manager Marco Rose is said to see the England international as central to his plans as the club prepares for its first Europa League campaign.

Scott made his senior England debut this year and travelled with Thomas Tuchel’s squad to the World Cup as part of the preparation camp. Although he was not included in the final squad, he is staying with the squad for the duration of the tournament.

He has made 89 appearances for Bournemouth since a £25m move from Bristol City in 2023, a deal that included a 15% sell-on clause that would benefit his former club in any future sale.

Any City move is understood to be at an early stage, with Pep Guardiola’s side continuing to assess midfield options this summer.
