Sam Lee confirms Manchester City will officially announce three deals shortly

Manchester City are looking to shape a new era after Enzo Maresca officially replaced Pep Guardiola at the helm yesterday.

The Italian has been in talks with the Cityzens for a while now and the deal has just been confirmed, although it was the worst-kept secret in world football.

Manchester City are also set to announce the signing of Elliot Anderson for a fee believed to be in the region of £116m, making him the most expensive purchase in the club’s history.

The good news, however, doesn’t end there, as Sam Lee has confirmed that three key players will officially sign contract extensions imminently.

Manchester City to announce triple contract extension

Anderson is set to become the first signing of the Maresca era and Manchester City are also looking to sign Malo Gusto from Chelsea.

We are likely to hear more on the transfer front in the coming weeks, but City are working diligently behind the scenes to get three contract extensions over the line.

According to The Athletic’s deal sheet, the Cityzens have agreed new contracts with Josko Gvardiol, Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku, with official announcements set to follow shortly.

They’ve all been key players for the club in recent seasons, with Doku finally showing his class last season after a lukewarm start to life in England despite his outstanding raw ability.

The move signals a big boost for Maresca as he gets to keep three key players in the squad well into their primes.

Gvardiol was linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the La Liga giants will not have to look elsewhere to bolster their rearguard under new manager Jose Mourinho.

Foden struggled last season and was omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

However, he has far too much quality to fizzle out and will look to put a disappointing season behind him to endear himself to the new manager.

What next for Manchester City?

Anderson’s transfer is also expected to be confirmed next month, although the midfielder’s full focus is currently on England’s World Cup campaign.

He has started each of their three games in the competition so far and his arrival is a massive boost for Maresca.

Gusto, on the other hand, knows Maresca well as they worked together at Chelsea. The Cityzens used Matheus Nunes at right-back for large parts of last season, but having an out-and-out player in that position will be a big boost for them.

Chelsea want £75m to sell Gusto this summer, and it remains to be seen if City bite at that price.

All in all, things are looking good for the Sky Blues as they aim to become a force to be reckoned with under a bright new manager who they know quite well due to his previous association with Guardiola.
