Elliot Anderson has reportedly passed his Manchester City medical, moving his British-record transfer from Nottingham Forest to the brink of completion.

According to Telegraph Sport, the England midfielder has cleared the medical stage ahead of a £116m move to the Etihad Stadium. The Sun has also reported that the 23-year-old is set to sign a five-year deal, with the agreement expected to include the option of a further season.

Manchester City closing in on record midfield deal

The development matters because this is no longer just a market pursuit. City had already moved into advanced territory when an agreement with Nottingham Forest emerged, a deal Read Man City covered last week, but a completed medical usually marks the final procedural stage before contracts are signed and club media is prepared.

Anderson’s arrival would reshape the midfield picture inherited by Enzo Maresca. With Bernardo Silva’s exit to Real Madrid expected on July 1, City are not simply buying depth; they are buying a Premier League-ready ball-carrier who can operate as a No.6, No.8 or advanced connector.

The timing is delicate. Anderson remains with England at the 2026 World Cup, and reports suggest the deal could be completed before the knockout tie against DR Congo. For City, that would secure a flagship signing before the summer market fully accelerates.
