Manchester City have reportedly agreed a deal worth up to £130million to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
The agreement remains subject to Anderson completing that medical and signing his contract. However, Romano has given the transfer his customary “here we go” confirmation.
City had already seen previous offers rejected by Forest, who maintained a firm valuation throughout negotiations. Read Man City previously reported that Anderson was expected to undergo his medical in the United States once the clubs found an agreement.
Anderson Becomes Manchester City’s Record Signing
A final package worth £130million would make Anderson the most expensive signing in Manchester City’s history.
The 23-year-old emerged as City’s priority midfield target ahead of Enzo Maresca’s first season at the Etihad Stadium. His ability to recover possession and progress the ball should suit a side expected to dominate matches.
Anderson also offers experience in English football despite his age. His arrival gives Maresca a midfielder capable of operating as a number six or eight.
The fee creates significant expectations, but City have secured their leading target after refusing to walk away from difficult negotiations.
Anderson’s request to leave Forest appears to have provided the final push. City can now move towards completing the formalities while the midfielder remains in the United States.
