- Nottingham Forest rejected Man City’s Elliot Anderson bid
- The Citizens are ready to give it another go very soon
- There is still optimism that a deal will be completed
Manchester City are about to make a second offer for Elliot Anderson, even though the summer transfer window is not yet open.
There has been an ongoing race between Manchester’s two biggest clubs for some time in the pursuit of Elliot Anderson.
Man City agreed terms with the midfielder some time ago, and Anderson wants a move completed before England’s World Cup campaign begins on the 17th.
However, Nottingham Forest rejected City’s opening bid, as they fell short of his substantial £100m+ valuation.
Man City prepare second Elliot Anderson bid
It seems Man City have not been discouraged by this setback. In fact, the club are feeling ‘optimistic’ about getting a deal done.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Sky Blues are preparing to send a new official bid to Nottingham Forest.
City remain ‘confident’, despite the fact Man United are still keen, as they have been leading the race since March.
Anderson’s move to Man City seems inevitable
The Red Devils may be interested in Anderson, but it feels like the England international has only ever had City on his mind.
He is clearly a priority, and when the domestic double winners add a player to the top of their wishlist, a deal is usually struck eventually.
If Man City keep on knocking, there is a very good chance that Nottingham Forest will accept that keeping Anderson is no longer a possibility.
City might need Anderson to play his part
Should Forest choose to remain stubborn, Man City may need Anderson to push harder for his exit from the club.
With no prospect of European football next season, a player of his quality cannot sit by and accept having to remain at the City Ground.
The 23-year-old needs to be clear that he wants to be competing for titles and playing in the Champions League.
This would essentially force Forest to make the sale, allowing City to secure a homegrown replacement for Bernardo Silva.
